Creepy, funny, and a great time. That's exactly what reading Professor Gargoyle gave me. Robert moves into a new middle school, and it happens to be a weird school for sure. Strange things keep on happening, and Robert keeps on experiencing weird stuff everyday. Robert was a very interesting character. True, he wasn't a strong character, he never stood up against his childhood bully, but he was a smart character indeed. Professor Gargoyle, the science teacher, is one weird man. Professor Gargoyle never answers the students, and even tells them that their questions are stupid. When one day Robert finds a two headed rat he decides to keep as a pet, something happens with Professor Gargoyle.
As the story goes on, Robert learns the true identity of Professor Gargoyle with the help of some new (shocking) friends. The journey of destroying Professor Gargoyle goes on, but does not end that easily. Before picking this one up, a lot of people have told me that it was very "scary". I was pretty disappointed because for me, it was not scary one bit. I was hoping for more creepiness, but since this is a middle grade book, I understand why they had to limit their creepiness at a certain extent. I really loved that there were some full page illustrations between the pages. It's always fun to see art in books.
Overall, this was a great book, maybe not for young adult readers, but I'm sure younger kids would love this very much. I really liked the ending, and I can't wait to find out what happens next in Robert's journey with his friends.
